Brand New Arrivals: Louisvale wines from Stellenbosch

26th Aug 2016

Although the homestand was originally built over a hundred years ago, the first vines were only planted in 1985. With 13 hectares planted entirely with high quality Chardonnay vines, Louisvale made its name as one of the pioneers of South African Chardonnay. They expanded in 2002, acquiring the neighbouring Nooitgedacht estate and planted Merlot, Cabernet and Shiraz. Under the stewardship of Altmann Allers since 2010 the winery has refocused its efforts and is producing a simply stunning selection of wines. We are their sole UK representatives, of which we are very proud, if nothing else, our name appears on the back of every bottle. Please do pop down to try these wines which again offer brilliant value for money and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.

We have taken stock of their varietal Stone Road range all at £8.99-

Merlot- Deep ruby colour with glorious plum aromas leads onto succulence in the mouth and a delicious after taste.

Sauvignon Blanc- A fresh, crisp, well-structured wine, this Sauvignon has well integrated acidity on the palate and a smooth, lingering after taste. Silver at the 2015 Michaelangelo awards.

Cabernet Sauvignon- A well matured wine for easy drinking! Full-bodied with delicious fruit aromas of black currant and plum, it is ready for enjoyment.

Louisvale

Unoaked Chardonnay- If you like your Chardonnay with true expression of fruit then this is the one you will love! Unoaked, its citrus tones and savoury nutty nuances produce a crisp flavour with a hint of tropical fruits that taste of the succulence and freshness of the grape. £10

Chavant- A fine balance of fresh citrus, vanilla and white peach flavours, this Chardonnay offers hints of butterscotch and citrus on the nose. Gold at the 2015 Michaelangelo awards. £10.50

Purple Label Chardonnay- Louisvale's signature wine, this premium Chardonnay has been matured in the finest French oak available. After hand picking and careful pressing, the wine was 100% barrel fermented and spent one year in oak. The nose is intensely complex with elegant aromas of lemon blossom, pineapple and apricot, toast and spice notes. The palate is smooth and buttery with a lingering after taste. £14.50

Dominque-Dominique is an elegant red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Intense fruit aromas of black currant and plum are underpinned by toasted oak. Absolutely stunning in our opinion, massively overachieving for the price- recently came first in the Ultra Value Wine Challenge and picked up a Silver at the Old Mutual Trophy Show 2015 £12.99

MCC- This vibrant pink Brut Rose delivers aromas of freshly crushed strawberries and cherries on the nose. On the palate the bubbles are fine and the foam persistent and the flavours are reminiscent of fresh, crisp red berries. This lively, fruity, fresh Rose can be enjoyed with friends at any occasion. Best Rosé at the annual Cap Classiques Challenge for South African méthode classique sparkling wines. £16.00
