Domaine de la Bastide

From Templar fortified farmstead to Benedictine monastery, the field of Bastide has found its place in the tradition of visanaise wine making. Located in the town of Suze la Rousse, the winery was founded in 1978, and is able to produce up to 5500 Hl. In 1989 Bernard and Nicole Boyer, both from wine making families, realised their dream of starting their own vineyard and returned to live near their home town, where the field of Bastide Visan is located, and where the wine making continues to this day, now run by their youngest son Vincent.

The vineyard covers the districts of Visan and Suze la Rousse, where grenache is the predominant grape variety, though renewal plantings are mainly of syrah. Other red varieties grown include mourvedre, carignan and cinsault. Whilst viognier, grenache blanc and roussanne make up the white grape plantings.

More recently in March of this year, at the 25th Independent winegrowers contest, their 2013 'The Figs' won a gold medal along with their 2013 rose, which also obtained a gold medal in the January competition of orange wines.
